Jailed singer R. Kelly is reportedly engaged to one of his alleged victims.

According to TMZ, Joycelyn Savage identified herself as “R. Kelly’s fiancée” in a letter asking for the judge to hand down a lenient sentence. Late last month, Kelly, 55, was sentenced in a New York federal court to 30 years in prison for operating a sex trafficking ring that victimized young women, girls, and boys.

A total of 45 witnesses testified during Kelly’s six-week trial — including five women who recounted how the singer imprisoned them and sexually abused them when they were underage.

“I’m not the victim that the government has portrayed me to be,” Savage reportedly wrote in the letter.

Savage claimed she has an “amazing” relationship with Kelly, and that the singer always took care of her needs. She denied claims that Kelly held her and other women against their will.

“Robert is not the monster that the government has described him to be,” she added. “The Robert I know is very sweet, gentle, and kind,” she also wrote, according to Page Six.

However, an attorney for Savage’s parents — who previously spoke out against Kelly — told TMZ that Savage never disclosed her engagement to her family, and that they hope to get in contact with her for some clarity. The lawyer also noted that Savage never identified herself as Kelly’s fiancée when testifying under oath.

According to reports, Savage’s family has not really talked to her since she started a relationship with Kelly.
